kanachidori -
I think a plot is good, when the characters are people you come to love along the way
That's a lovely way to put it. It's one of the many ways in which a book can succeed.

since Claire slept with her best friend’s guy
Yeah, it is problematic that Clare slept with him while he was in the relationship, but given that Clare has almost inhuman restraint in every other respect of her life (i.e. waiting for Henry), I didn't fault her too much.

I agree that Henry is terribly dashing, though - I think Niffenegger does a wonderful job of making him simultaneously very attractive, and troubling as a person. There's a certain shared element of destructiveness in his and Clare's personalities that makes the dynamic between them both compelling and unnerving.

It' one of my fave books, I did find it hard to get into the story at first, first few chapters, but once you are in, you are totally sucked into it.
The movie version wasn't as good, of course, that's given. The book is awesome, I think a plot is good, when the characters are people you come to love along the way, Henry is my fave. I guess I am a bit biased here, since Claire slept with her best friend's guy, but before Claire, Henry was like sleeping with many girls. LOL.
The ending was sad, but everyone have to die eventually. I had enjoyed their love story.
