American author, artist, and scholar Audrey Niffenegger’s (b. June 13, 1963) first novel was the phenomenally popular The Time Traveler’s Wife (2003), which precipitated a fierce bidding war for her second novel, Her Fearful Symmetry (2009). Niffenegger is based in Chicago, where she teaches book arts at Columbia College. She has also created and published a number of visual novels, which like her novels are often romantic, melodramatic, and infused with supernatural and fantastical elements.
