Robert Harris (b. March 7, 1957) is a British writer and former journalist. He has published a number of political and historical nonfiction works, as well as numerous works of historical fiction, beginning with the bestselling alternate history Fatherland (1992), and one contemporary political novel. Since the release of the popular Pompeii in 2003, he has been focusing on novels of ancient Rome, and is currently publishing a trilogy on the life of the statesman Cicero.
